Turning a Challenge into Community Support

Our Story

The Wild Harvest Food Project was founded on a simple idea: that a growing environmental challenge could also help address a growing social need.

Across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, deer populations have risen significantly leading to crop damage, ecological imbalance, and an increase in road traffic collisions.

At the same time, more individuals and families are facing food insecurity.

We exist to connect these two issues – creating a responsible, ethical system that benefits both land and people.

Our Mission

To responsibly manage local deer populations while providing sustainable, high-quality food to those experiencing hardship.

How It Works

1. We partner with farmers and landowners

2. Deer are humanely and professionally managed

3. Meat is processed by trusted local butchers

4. Venison is distributed to food banks and community organisations
